3PL Fulfillment Integration For Shopify, With Our Own Team On The Other End

Connecting a Shopify store to a warehouse takes an afternoon. What matters after that is who receives the orders on the other side. With Merchdrop’s 3PL fulfillment integration for Shopify, every order lands in the Chatsworth, California, building we own and staff, where our own people pick it, pack it, and ship it. The stock count your shoppers see comes from the same team that holds the stock.

How Our 3PL Shopify Integration Works

Once your store is connected to our 3PL warehousing and fulfillment operation, information moves both ways, with no spreadsheet exports in between.

Orders Reach Our Floor As Shoppers Place Them

Each new order flows into our warehouse management system with its items, shipping method, and notes attached. There is no overnight batch to wait for. Orders ship the same or next business day, against a daily cutoff time fixed when we set up your account.

Tracking Goes Back To Your Store Automatically

When the label prints, the tracking number is sent to Shopify, which marks the order as fulfilled and emails your customer the shipping confirmation. Branded tracking pages keep your name in front of the customer while the parcel is on its way.

Stock Levels Come From Counted Shelves

The available quantity in your Shopify admin follows our live counts. Units become sellable only after they are counted and scanned at receiving, so a product page that says “in stock” means the item is sitting on a shelf in our building. Returned items are inspected at our dock, then restocked or set aside, with a reason code recorded for each one, and restocked units return to your Shopify inventory, ready to sell again. Low-stock and reorder alerts tell you when it is time to restock.

One Store, Shipping From Two Countries

Shopify lets a single store ship from more than one location. A brand based in Mexico or Canada can keep its home stock where it is and send US orders to our Chatsworth floor, so American customers receive domestic parcels from a US address

Custom Order Fulfillment For Shopify Stores

Few Shopify stores sell one item in one plain box. Our Shopify order fulfillment services cover the orders that need more care:

- Bundles and kits:
a bundle listed as one product in Shopify is matched to its components, or built ahead of time in our kitting area so it ships as a single unit.
- Pre-orders and backorders:
released in the order customers placed them, as soon as stock arrives.
- Subscription boxes:
assembled to each cycle’s recipe and shipped on schedule.
- Your packaging:
inserts, tissue, and branded boxes used exactly as you specify.
- Dated products:
lot and expiry tracking for beauty, personal care, and wellness items, so the shortest-dated units go out first.
- Wholesale orders:
prepared to each retailer’s labeling and routing rules, with Target EDI connected.
- International orders:
shipped abroad with the customs forms completed in-house.

Every unit is checked against the order by barcode at the shelf and again at the packing station. For the full picture of how our team handles each order, check our pick and pack services page.

Using A 3PL For Shopify Order Fulfillment, Step By Step

Most of the work happens before your first order reaches us.

Step 1: Connect The Store And Agree On The Rules

We link your store to our system and check that every product and variant in Shopify matches a SKU on our side. An order with a SKU the warehouse does not recognize cannot be picked, so this check comes first. Together, we match the shipping options at your checkout to real carrier services, set the daily cutoff, and write down how bundles, gift orders, and address problems should be handled.

Step 2: Count In Your Stock

Your inventory arrives at our dock, where it is counted, scanned, and shelved. Shopify quantities switch to our numbers only once that count is complete. From then on, the available quantity in your Shopify admin follows our live counts, so a product page that says “in stock” means the item is sitting on a shelf in our building.

Step 3: Test, Then Go Live

Sample orders run through the whole process, from checkout to tracking, before real customer orders start coming in. Each test order should arrive in our warehouse management system with its items, shipping method, and notes attached, and its tracking number should reach Shopify once the label prints. When every step checks out, your store goes live.

The Best Order Fulfillment For Shopify Shows You What Every Order Costs And Delivers

What separates top Shopify order fulfillment from the rest is rarely the app. It is how clearly you can see what each order costs once it leaves the shelf. Shopify already shows what every order earned. As your Shopify order fulfillment provider, we report the other side: cost per order, shipping spend, order accuracy, and on-time dispatch. With both sets of numbers in front of you, you can set a free shipping threshold, price a bundle, or plan a sale using real figures.

At Merchdrop, the warehouse, the systems, and the staff are ours. Around 250,000 packages leave our operation every month, and when a client’s volume jumps, we add space and people within our own business. A Columbus, Ohio, facility is coming soon.

As a 3PL for Shopify, we are the strongest fit for brands that sell a short list of products in large numbers: beauty and personal care, wellness, home goods, games and toys, and light electronics.
